FAQ
Everything you need to know about renting our gear for your outdoor adventures.
-
Each rental includes the Pulsar thermal spotter, battery (or batteries), charger/cable, protective case, and any standard accessories supplied with the unit. Everything needed to use the device straight away is included.
-
Yes. Pulsar thermal spotters are ideal for wildlife observation, pest control, and legal hunting applications. They allow you to detect heat signatures in low light or complete darkness, helping you identify animals safely and effectively.
-
No licence is required to rent or own a thermal spotter in the UK. However, you are responsible for ensuring your use of the device complies with all relevant laws, land permissions, and hunting regulations. Thermal equipment must not be taken outside the UK.
-
We offer both in-store collection and courier delivery. Remote rentals are carefully packaged and shipped to your chosen address. Collection and return details will be confirmed at checkout.
-
Battery life varies by model and usage, but most Pulsar thermal spotters offer several hours of continuous use on a full charge. Additional batteries may be included depending on the model rented.
-
The thermal spotter must be returned clean, dry, complete, and in the same condition as supplied (normal wear and tear is fine). Missing accessories, damage, or water ingress may result in deductions from the security deposit.
-
You are responsible for the equipment for the full rental period. Damage, loss, or theft may be charged up to the full replacement value. Any theft must be reported to us immediately and, where appropriate, to the police.
-
Yes. If you purchase a new Pulsar unit of the same model from us within 30 days of your rental, we will refund up to one week’s rental fee from your purchase price. This is a great way to try before you buy.
-
Simply complete your rental, then place an order for the same model within 30 days. Contact us with your rental and order details, and we’ll refund up to one week’s rental cost back to you once the purchase is confirmed.
-
Rental fees are non-refundable once the rental period has started, as the equipment has been reserved and used. However, our rental-to-purchase refund offer allows you to put the cost of renting towards owning your own unit.
-
Yes – absolutely.
Our opening hours are designed to make this easy for local customers. You’re welcome to collect your hire device in the morning, use it throughout the day, and return it before closing to be charged for a single day’s hire. This is a popular option for customers who want a full day’s use without paying for overnight hire. Please check our current opening hours on the site before booking to ensure you can make the most of your rental.
You will still need to book ahead to ensure we have the unit you need available for you.
-
We dispatch all hire equipment using reliable tracked courier services to ensure fast and secure delivery.
- Standard delivery typically takes 1–2 working days
- Tracking information is provided once your order ships
While delays are rare, couriers can occasionally experience disruptions due to weather, peak periods or network issues. If a delay occurs that impacts your hire period, please contact us and we’ll always be fair and reasonable in resolving it.

Thermal optics are incredibly powerful but do take a little getting used to. Here’s a quick starter guide:
1. Take time to familiarise yourself
Spend a few minutes navigating menus, switching colour palettes, and adjusting brightness/contrast.2. Use the right colour mode
White hot and black hot are the most common – try both to see what your eyes prefer.3. Scan slowly
Thermal is about spotting heat differences – slow panning gives much better results.4. Learn shapes, not just heat
Animals show distinctive movement and outlines – avoid misidentifying heat sources.5. Don’t over-zoom
Digital zoom reduces clarity – stay zoomed out when scanning. If you’re collecting in store, our team will happily give you a quick walkthrough before you leave.
-
This depends on your setup and intention.
- If you simply want to look through the optic and assess image quality, no mounting is required.
- If you want to use it on your rifle, you’ll need compatible mounts.
Mounting can take time and may require:
- Correct rail compatibility
- Torque settings
- Zeroing
Because of this, many customers choose to evaluate optically rather than shoot during hire. If you do intend to shoot, please speak to us before booking so we can advise on mount compatibility and practicality.
-
Yes – the Pulsar Krypton requires a cover ring adaptor matched to your scope’s objective diameter.
These adaptors are essential for secure fitment and correct alignment.
As they vary by scope size, we recommend:- Measuring your scope objective in advance
- Contacting us before booking so we can confirm compatibility
Again, many customers hire the Krypton primarily to assess image quality before purchasing.
